How to Use the Social Proof to Gain Instant
Credibility

If you go to conferences and truly pay attention to
how the speaker markets his ideas, you will notice
he or she uses the consensus or what we call
social proof to get you to buy in on his or her
ideas. The speakers want to show you that their are
generally well accepted. Why do you think the speaker
has a group of people standing at one point of the
speech. The speaker wants those that are part of that
group to feel special and at the same time, make those
people sitting down wish they were part of the group.
Why?
Because everyone wants to be accepted.
"What will people think" is something that we all ask
ourselves at the unconscious level. So, before taking
an action or buying into an idea, people will look for
social proof and similarities of others who took action
under the same circumstances.
Now, there are two important aspects of social proof
that are especially important…
1. The Many Others
2. Comparable Others
The MANY implies that something is a hit or leader in
your specific community or tribe. Once trends take off,
the momentum of the leaders makers them very hard to
overtake.
Comparability is a sense of how similar someone is to
one-self. For example, I will not be influenced nearly
as much by the actions of others whom I do not identify
with, So the closer the marketing is aligned with my
specific circumstances and relationships, the better.
That is why it's important to always keep the prospect
in mind. Then think whom your readers would best
associate with who has already achieved success using
your tips, tools, resources and information.
